Yorkshire Cycle Maps and Guide Books
Yorkshire has some fantastic cycling: the Dales in the west, Moors in the north, and the coast in the east. There are some very good maps for certain areas, though also some gaps only filled by OS Landranger maps. |

LOCAL MAPS AND LONG-DISTANCE ROUTESSustrans have two very good maps of north and east Yorkshire, with bits of County Durham:
"Yorkshire Wolds, York and Hull" overlaps the above, and includes routes joining up Easingwold, York, Delby, Goole, Hull, Beverley, Hornsea and Bridlington.
"Yorkshire Moors and Coast" includes routes joining up Pickering, Scarborough, Whitby, Middlesborough, Darlington, Barnard Castle, Northallerton, Thirsk and Easingwold. | | |
Sustrans "Hull to Fakenham" map shows the 206 mile route from Hull to Fakenham, via Grimsby, Market Rasen, Lincoln, Boston, Wisbech, King's Lynn and Burnham Market. The map is a little old now (published 1996) but is still mostly accurate.
The National Byway map for Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire links Gainsborough, Barton on Humber, Bridlington, Malton, Knaresborough, Ripon, Richmond and Barnard Castle. It also has notes on many heritage and historic sites along the route.

The Goldeneye "Cycling Country Lanes and Byways - North York Moors" is an excellent, detailed, waterproof map, perfect for cycling with. It covers an area including, Middlesborough, Guisborough, Thirsk, York, Helmsley, Malton, Pickering, Whitby, Scarborough, Filey, Bridlington, Great Driffield and Hornsea
Goldeneye's "Yorkshire Dales" map is now unfortunately out of print.

The OS 1:50,000 Landranger series is the classic map for cycling (if there isn't a specific one shown here!).
The Yorkshire Dales Cycleway map links Skipton, Ilkely, Grassington, Malham, Settle, Ingleton, Dent, Hawes, Gunnerside, Reeth, Wensley and Kettlewell. As well as showing the route, the map has information on facilities and services along the way. And the map is waterproof. |
