Cycling in Ireland
Ireland is a wonderful place for cycling. Long winding lanes, and friendly locals.
Look below for cycling touring maps and guide books. |
| |
| Northern Ireland has several very good Sustrans routes, fully waymarked with maps available here. Southern Ireland doesn't have the same system, but there are good maps available (the Ireland Discovery series). For the whole of Ireland, touring routes can be found in Cycle Touring in Ireland, an excellent guide book. And Edward Enfield's Freewheeling in Ireland can't help but entertain! |
| | Taking your bike to Ireland from the UK couldn't be easier. run from Liverpool to Dublin, from Cairnryan to Larne, and from Troon to Larne. run from Holyhead to Dublin and Dun Laoghaire, from Fishguard to Rosslare, and from Stranraer to Belfast. Irish Ferries run from Holyhead to Dublin, and from Pembroke to Rosslare. |
| | There are no end of places to stay which will welcome you and your bike: you could, for example, book through Hostelbookers (see link below), or if staying in one place, book a holiday cottage through Imagine Ireland. |
